PAN Card Application For NRI – Apply
The PAN Card application for NRI can be applied for from any country of residence using the official online portals approved by the Income tax department, Government of India.
The Income tax department.gov.in has appointed two specific companies that can process PAN applications online and issue PAN card for an applicant despite the applicant’s country of residence. An NRI does not need to be in India to obtain a PAN card.
Both companies are based in India and have their own respective online portal (also known as online platform or site) through which an NRI can apply for their PAN card.
The designated PAN Card application online Portals
The two official company’s are;
- Protean eGov formally NSDL
- UTIITSL
An NRI applicant would need to select between one of these portals and then familiarize themselves with the information set out on the portal thoroughly before beginning their application. This initial process can take anywhere between a few hours/days or more not including the application process itself. The service is self directed and requires the applicant to prepare their PAN application as per the guidelines set out on the portal depending on which one is used.
